Turning Drama into Compassion
- Unlock the mystery to negative drama in your life and in the workplace.
- Understand how you and others interact in productive, and unproductive ways.
- Turn unhealthy patterns into healthy ones.
Dr. Steven Karpmanʼs Drama Triangle and Compassion Triangle offer a specific model
for recognizing, responding, and relating to others in productive ways. During this 60-90
minute keynote, Jeff King, LSCSW, will use the Drama and Compassion Triangles to
explain how to recognize personal drama patterns and get out, stay productive, reduce
stress and conflict, and stay energized throughout the day.
There are three invitations for being productive and healthy, and three invitations
for sabotaging and creating drama. Each invitation has predictable words and body
language. Recognizing compassionate invitations enables responding and relating in a
way that is healthy and productive. Recognizing the signs of drama helps avoid the
invitation, allowing the choice to invite others out of the drama and into compassionate
relationships.
Learning Objectives:
- Recognize the gestures, postures, tones, words and facial expressions that signal compassion or drama.
- Learn to respond productively to the language of compassion or drama and stay healthy in relationships.
- Learn how to accept the invitation of compassion in the workplace in order to reduce stress and conflict, and stay energized.
