“This training has provided more resources to actually implement
effective communication processes than I have ever experienced. My team and
I are seeing immediate results.”

NE CORNER
Psychologist John Gottman refers to the Four Horseman. A concept he
coined in regards to predicting if marriages will end or survive, they are
defensiveness, stonewalling, criticism and contempt. He contends that if
this is consistently present in a marriage then the marriage will end. Our
PCM marital workshop can help identify the horseman and exclude them from
your relationship. We all will get our needs met in either healthy or
unhealthy ways. The Four Horseman is an example of how spouses get their
needs met in unhealthy ways. Be free from the Horseman and join us in our
marriage retreat!

THE NEW GENERATION
If you work with a millennial, also called Generation Y, (someone born
between 1980 and 2000), you may have discovered that what motivates them is
different than your older employees or co-workers. Bethel College in North
Newton is offering a free public seminar on June 4th. Allison J. McFarland,
Bethel College professor of management and marketing, will talk about the
newest generation of employees to join the American workforce. For more

BOOK RECOMMENDATION
“Blink” by Malcolm Gladwell
Blink has a wealth of information and wisdom. I am going to point out a
specific part of the book that I found fascinating. “People don’t sue
doctors they like.” This is a quote from a leading medical malpractice
lawyer, quoted in the book. A point the book makes is that people will sue
their doctors because of how they were treated relationally not medically.
A medical researcher reports that she found in a study of surgeons, those
who had not been sued spent three minutes or longer with their patients.
Blink is a great book and is very much aligned with the philosophy at Next
Element that relationships mean everything. There is great stuff in this
book, we hope you enjoy it!

HOT WING UPDATE
Nate and I were in Santa Monica, CA at a place called Yankee Doodles. Of course we had the wings! The meat was good and the sauce was tasty. However, they had a spice that is not nice, and they were not spicy enough to get a 4 rating, therefore I gave them a 3.75 Link: http://www.yankeedoodles.com
